Jimmy Clausen has been waived by the Carolina Panthers.
Clausen, 25, played only during his 2010 rookie season and has been on the Panthers bench since the team drafted Cam Newton in the following draft.
Despite all the talk of his arm at Notre Dame it never materialized in the NFL and he now finds himself looking for a roster spot.
Clausen’s Carolina career ends with three touchdown passes, nine interceptions, nine fumbles, and a 1-9 record.
The Panthers figure to go with Derek Anderson behind Newton to start the season.
