The Cleveland Indians needed extra innings to defeat Seattle on Friday night but did so thanks to a three-run home run off the bat of Jason Kipnis. Kipnis’ six home run of the month provided the win for the Tribe but it started with Ubaldo Jimenez.
Jimenez allowed two runs on seven hits during his five innings of work. In the sixth Jimenez gave up a lead off hit before giving way to reliever Rich Hill who promptly served up a home run to Raul Ibanez.
While Jimenez failed to register a win he did keep up his recent run of success. Over his last four outings Jimenez has a 1.90 ERA and 29 strike outs in 23 2/3 innings of work. He had won his last three starts.
With his recent success Jimenez is rewarding the Indians for picking up his $5.75 million option.
