Jonathan Sanchez and the Los Angeles Dodgers have reached an agreement on a contract pending a physical per Pedro Gomez. Sanchez was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this month after he was wildly ineffective.
Sanchez posted a 11.85 ERA and 15/8 K/BB ratio in 13 2/3 innings for the Pirates. He also received a six game suspension for hitting Allen Craig of the St. Louis Cardinals after giving up back-to-back home runs to Matt Carpenter and Carlos Beltran and then a single to Matt Holliday.
With the Dodgers getting Zach Greinke back and Ted Lilly likely to return soon there does not appear to be any need for the team to promote Sanchez to the major league roster.
