Frank Kimmel won the ARCA Series race from Talladega Superspeedway thanks in part to rain. The International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250 was highlighted by two crashes just before halfway and was threaten by weather from the start. It was Kimmel’s second win at Talladega.

Milka Duno started on the pole for the race after teammate John Wes Townley’s car failed a post qualifying inspection. On lap 29 Duno would force Townley into the outside wall while trying to avoid a lapped car. Townley’s car slid down the 2.66 mile Alabama track before hitting the infield wall. He was checked and released from the infield care center.

On the ensuing restart Duno bumped into the No. 2 car of Thomas Praytor as she let off the gas a slue of cars piled into each other. At-least 14 cars were damaged in some way due to the accident.

With 20 laps to go in the race a caution came out for rain. The race would never restart and Frank Kimmel would be declared the race winner, his 77th ARCA win. Kimmel is now just two wins behind Iggy Katona’s record of 79 ARCA wins.
