Josh Johnson will not face the New York Yankees on Friday. Toronto has scratched Johnson from his scheduled start due to tightness in his right triceps.
The move is being called precautionary and the team is hopeful that he will be ready to go for his next scheduled start.
Johnson had made four starts this season for the Blue Jays but had struggled to pitch effectively. Currently he had a 6.86 ERA and a 1.88 WHIP. In his last outing Johnson lasted 5 1/3 innings allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks to the Yankees.
In Johnson’s place the Blue Jays will start Aaron Laffey who they recently claimed off of waivers from the New York Mets.
Laffey had 4 appearances with the Mets, including 2 starts. His ERA was 7.20 when the Mets placed him on waivers.
