Speaking at the Davey O’Brien Award reception Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel says he is taking only online classes at the university. Manziel went on to say that he is only on campus once a month.
Call it a case of fame gone bad.
Manziel attempted to take an English class on campus but requests for photos and autographs became too much for the Heisman trophy winner.
“I didn’t think anything of it, and it kind of turned into a little more of a big deal than I thought,” Manziel said, according to the Associated Press.
Some could question how much time the quarterback has for class with his appearances at NBA games, the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras but Manziel says hes no different then any other college student.
“I know plenty of friends who went down to Mardi Gras to New Orleans and other guys who went to the Super Bowl too,” Manziel said. “I was down there with other college football guys too, so I don’t know, people like to give me a hard time more than others. There’s college kids doing what I’m doing all around the country. People just think I’m going wild with it, when it’s not like that.”
