Cassel returns as Chiefs quarterback, Quinn ruled out

Matt Cassel will be the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback when the team plays against San Diego. Cassel had missed the last two weeks after suffering a concussion in a game against Baltimore.

Cassel’s return is, in part, due to Brady Quinn being ruled out. Quin suffered what appears to be a concussion in Sunday’s loss against Oakland however the Chiefs have not confirmed it. Cassel took over as quarterback and was 20-for-30 with 218 yards passing a  touchdown and an interception.

Ricky Stanzi will backup Cassel on Thursday. Coach Romeo Crennel stated that Quinn is the teams starter when healthy.

The Chiefs expect to rely heavily on Jamaal Charles against a poor Chargers run defense. Strangely Charles only carried the ball five times in the Week 8 loss to Oakland.
