Vick carries ball during week to work on fumbles

The Philadelphia Eagles are tied for the lead in the NFC East but the team is having trouble keeping the ball in their hands. The majority of the ball control problems center around quarterback Michael Vick. Vick has six interceptions and has fumbled eight times, losing five of them.

Numerous times already this season the question has been asked: Should Vick continue to start or is he a liability going forward.

It has been no secret that Vick struggles with fumbling. This has been a known issue for years but the rate at which Vick has been putting the ball on the ground has alarmed Eagles coach Andy Reid.

To help Vick work on his ball security, Reid had the quarterback carry around a football while at the Eagles facility. Teammates were then encouraged to strip the ball from him.

“Everyone thought it was funny, but I didn’t,” Vick told Philly.com. “That’s how much I care about this team. That’s how much I care about our success.”

After watching tapes of others carry the ball Vick came to a conclusion. “Everyone’s got it high and tight.”

Vick and the Eagles face the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
