Kevin Harvick Dumps Water Bottle After Nationwide Win at Richmond

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No.33 Armour/Vienna Sausage Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing won his first NASCAR Nationwide Series Race since 2010 at Richmond International Raceway. It was Harvick’s sixth career Nationwide win at the track.

Kurt Busch was leading as Harvick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were battling for second place when a caution came out on lap 227. Kurt Busch got into the back of Dexter Stacey and Stacey went spinning. Since Stacey was holding Busch up, Harvick was able to pass him before the caution came out. Harvick restarted in front of Busch and never looked back.

With five laps to go, Harvick had a 1.5 second lead over second place Stenhouse Jr.

When Harvick crossed the finish line, before burning out he opened his water bottle and poured it out his window. Last weekend, Harvick blamed Brad Keselowski for throwing his water bottle out his car window in order to cause a caution.

NASCAR said that was not the reason of the caution, though they never said where or what the debris was.

In victory lane, Harvick was shown his phone in which his wife Delana and their son Keelan Harvick were on Facetime to see daddy’s win. He was sleeping soundly. (Read more about Keelan)

Danica Patrick wrecked on lap 143.

Stenhouse Jr. finished second, followed by Busch, Hamlin and Michael Annett to round out the top five. Elliot Sadler retains the points lead, 1 point ahead of Stenhouse Jr.
