Could Kurt Busch Join RCR in a Fourth Car?

Kurt Busch is on a one year contract with Phoenix Racing. Having always driven top of the line equipment there has been a tendency for Busch to over drive the No. 51 car this season. Now however, David Newton of ESPN is reporting that Kurt Busch could joining Richard Childress Racing in a fourth entry for the 2013 season.

Newton says that Childress and Busch have talked about joining together next season if sponsorship can be found. Busch has been un-sponsored cars for much of the season.

The news is surprising considering Elliott Sadler, who is leading the Nationwide Series points, announced just days ago that he would not be part of RCR next season. Some have tabbed Sadler as heading to Joe Gibbs Racing for a full time Nationwide Series ride.

The 2004 Sprint Cup champion has 24 career wins but has just one top five and two top tens this season. He parted ways with Penske Racing following the 2011 season in what was dubbed a mutual agreement. He is also driving part time in the Nationwide Series for his brothers team, Kyle Busch Motorsports.

  1. RCR shouldn’t take a chance with a SHORT-TEMPER Kurt. He has a outstanding driver with Sadler. Too bad he has to lose him. Joe’s comment that Clint was a good driver is true but again RCR made another STUPID choice to let him go!!!!!
