Ryan Newman to re-sign with Stewart Haas Racing

Ryan Newman, driver of the No.39 Chevrolet for Stewart Haas Racing, will be back with the team for at least another year Jim Utter from That’s Racin is reporting.

Sponsorship remains a question for the car. The US Army left the No. 39 car earlier this year but it is believed that Outback, Quicken Loans, Tornados and WIXX Filters would sponsor a portion of Newmans 2013 schedule.

Another concern for SHR is that Tony Stewart will also need to find another sponsor for his No. 14 car as Office Depot announced days ago that they would not return for the 2013 season. The company is in the process of filling for bankruptcy.

An official announcement could come before Saturday’s race at Richmond. Matt Kenseth and Joe Gibbs Racing recently confirmed their 2013 plans as did Joey Logano and Penske Racing.

This would move SHR to a three car team as Danica Patrick is slated to drive the entire Sprint Cup schedule in the No. 10 next season with sponsorship from GoDaddy.com.
