Dixon started in fourth place in a race which was mostly lead by Will Power until late pit stops. It was then when Dixon was able to beat Power out of the pits and lead the rest of the way to the checkered flag.
This is Dixon’s second win this season. It was his 28th career win.
Although today’s victory does not improve Dixon’s place on the table where he remains in fourth, it he does close the gap on the leaders. When he was speaking after the race, Dixon said, “A fantastic day. It puts us back in the hunt.”
Behind Dixon, Power finished second, Pagenaud finished third, Bourdais finished fourth and Hinchcliff finished fifth.
Ryan Hunter-Reay is the current points leader.
This is wrapping up to be a great weekend for Chip Ganassi, with Dixon winning, he also has NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya on the pole of today’s Pennsylvania 400.
