Kenseth to Joe Gibbs annoucement not until mid-August?

Matt Kenesth will not be driving the No. 17 Ford for Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) in 2013 but no one has gotten the driver to open up about where he will be next season. Many believe that Kenseth will drive a car for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) with the likely seat being the No. 20 which is currently driven by Joey Logano.

Since news broke that Kenseth would not be a member of RFR in 2013 the driver has been careful to sidestep questions about his racing future.

Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, ESPN writer, David Newton reported that it was a stipulation in his contract with RFR that was preventing the news from being announced. Previously many had thought that JGR was withholding the news until a definite decision had been reached in regards to their future plans with Logano.

Below is a spinet from Newton’s recent article about Kenseth heading to JGR.

Joe Gibbs Racing president J.D. Gibbs declined on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to comment on Kenseth’s situation. But Gibbs said the goal was to have four teams in 2013, and that every effort was being made to re-sign Joey Logano, whose contract expires after this season, if sponsorship can be found.(ESPN)

Kenseth is currently second in the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver standings. He won his second career Daytona 500 earlier this year and was the 2003 series champion.
