Ty Dillon to run Nationwide race at Indianapolis

Ty Dillon will drive in his second Nationwide Series race this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Dillon, the grandson of Richard Childress, will drive the #51 car in the inaugural Nationwide race at the 2.5 mile track.

Dillon made his Nationwide Series debut at Dover in June. After starting third he finished eighth.

The #51 car will have equipment provided by Richard Childress Racing. The normal driver of the car, Jeremy Clements, will drive the #4 car this weekend. This will ensure that Dillon gets to start the race. Clements Automotive is currently listed as the sponsor of the car to be driven by Dillon.

Ty Dillon is the younger brother of Austin Dillon. Austin is 11 points out of the Nationwide Series points lead and recently it was announced that he would run the full schedule again next season.

  1. Glad to see Ty will be racing at Indy. Both Dillon boys have lots of f talent and would like to see them get a number we can relate to them. It is time for them to make their own history and not lean on Dale’s.They are both capable of making a car number famous but they need to get away from the #3 and get started on their path to the top.The cowboy hat belongs to Richard Petty so that can go also. Just be yourselves and you will go far.
