Kurt Busch may not run full Cup season?

Phoenix Racing owner James Finch praised the effort of driver Kurt Busch saying “It’s kind of like a small team getting a big-time quarterback” still the team may miss races later this season if sponsorship can not be found.

Busch ran the past race at Texas with a red and white colored car reading Phoenix. Not a good sign for a small budget team hoping to piece together enough dollars to run the full season.

While speaking to Dave Despain, Finch said that the car will head to Kansas and Talladega where they hoped to crack into the top-10. Thus far the #51 car driven by Busch has been hampered by bad luck and ha finished on the lead lap just twice in seven starts thus far this year.

The team is coming off a 13th place run at Texas, their best finish this season was a 9th place run at Fontana. Busch sits a dismal 26th overall in the Sprint Cup driver standings.

Busch signed a one year deal with Phoenix Racing after mutually agreeing to part ways with Penske Racing following a volatile incident at the 2011 season ending race at Homestead. While at Penske Racing he was a perennial contender for the series championship.
