The Levine Family Racing team will put a car on the track for the first time this season when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Texas. Behind the wheel of the #95 Ford Fusion will be Scott Speed.
As the season has gotten underway the Texas based team has been preparing for this race to make it’s season debut. In total they announced a plan to run 15 races this year and if the twitter feed of Speed is any indication they will run the entire event each week. If this seems similar to last season then you are correct, remebering that LFR was able to qualify for the Texas race.
After spending his first three seasons in NASCAR with Red Bull, Speed operated mainly as a start and park driver last season. Veteran truck series driver David Starr drove the #95 car last season. Starr qualified for four races while failing to qualify for four others. It was the first four starts for Starr at the Sprint Cup level and his best finish was a 24th place run at Bristol.
If Speed is able to qualify for the Texas race on time it will be his first start at the Sprint Cup level this season. He failed to qualify at Martinsville while driving for another new entry into the Sprint Cup level in Hamilton Means Racing. (#52)
Speed has been driving the Nationwide schedule but has only been a start and park effort there. He has qualified for four of the five races on the Nationwide schedule but has run a total of 16 laps.
