While Kenny Wallace may spend Sunday’s on the SPEED channel he’s a race car driver first. One of the sports most popular faces and one of it’s most vocal voices, Wallace continues to run the Nationwide series schedule and will do so again this season with RAB Racing in their #09. Last season he finished 7th in the driver standings in that series.
This year RAB Racing and Wallace plan to run the Daytona 500. Wallace last competed in the Sprint Cup series in 2008 running at both Daytona and Talladega.
American Ethanol will sponsor the car and National Corn Growers Association president Garry Niemeyer says that “Corn farmers are excited to continue our relationship with RAB Racing and Kenny Wallace in 2012.”
The car will be a Toyota Camry according to the press release and the crew chief will be named later. Wallace has run 344 races at the Sprint Cup level with 6 finishes inside the top-5. On the Nationwide side he has won 9 races in 522 starts.
John Wes Townley to run Truck Series
In addition to supplying cars for Wallace to run full time in the Nationwide series the team is also planning to compete in the Camping World Truck Series with John Wes Townley behind the wheel. Townley will run for Rookie of the Year honors in the series. Townley has run races with RAB in NASCAR’s top three series dating back to 2008. He competed in the truck series in 2008 part time for Jack Roush with sponsorship coming from the family owned Zaxby’s chicken.
I’m fan of Kenny Wallace! So excited to watch him on Feb. 26. I wish I could watch live but I have no time to buy ticket. I will watch it online. I’m sure this will be a great race.
