Geoff Bodine has sponsorship but no team for 2012

Veteran driver Geoff Bodine has sponsorship for 15 races in the 2012 season according to a news article in the Elmira Star. The veteran driver does not have a team to race for though as of yet. Bodine said he has talked to multiple teams about racing for them in 2012 and expects to make an announcement before New Years.

As the Star points out

Bodine said while it won’t be a top-tier team, it will be a competitive team that already runs multiple cars. “It’s in Luke’s and our court right now to decide which (team) we go with,”

Right now it is unclear who Bodine may be talking to. The 63 year old driver competed in four events last season and has won 18 races in his career.

Sponsorship comes from Luke & Associates. Their website lists the company as follows.

Luke provides services for the U.S. military and private industry. Services include healthcare services, advisory and assistance services, technical services, engineering, staff augmentation and information management. We provide healthcare professionals for local, national and military clinics, hospitals and healthcare systems. We also provide technical, professional, engineering and research professionals for private industry and military installations.

Bodine believes the problem last season, that saw him with a best finish of 30th, was more due to the subpar equipment at Tommy Baldwin Racing. Bodine says that he feels great behind the wheel of a car for a full race but does admit he will not be able to drive forever.

It is also worth noting that due to a past victory at Daytona, Bodine is eligible to race in the Budweiser shootout.
