It’s a signing it’s just not the one everyone seems to be waiting on with Chien-Ming Wang.
Ah but it’s a signing huh?
You have to give the Washington Nationals credit. They are always looking to bolster their outfield, sadly most of the options they bring into camp are simply not very good.
The latest signing is Willy Taveras who hit .240/.275/.285Â last year while with the Cincinnati Reds. He was traded to Oakland earlier this month and then was released.
Taveras will compete for one of the remaining outfield positions on the Nationals along with Chris Duncan and Justin Maxwell.
Of the three options Maxwell offers the most upside, Duncan offers the best chance of getting a power hitting bat ala lighting in a bottle while Taveras offers the most speed and best defense of the trio.
Depending on how the Nationals plan to classify Willie Harris, either infield or outfield, will likely play a huge park on whether one or two of the above make the team.
