Philip Rivers has earned the Associated Press’ 2013 honors for Comeback Player of the Year. A portion of fans believe that this award is given to a injured player but that is not always the case.

Rivers has returned to being a capable NFL quarterback after some had written him off as done. With a new coach in Mike McCoy, Rivers and the Chargers went all the way to the playoffs winning an opening round game.

With Rivers having a turnaround Ken Whisenhunt earned a job as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. Frank Reich earned a promotion to the Chargers offensive coordinator role.

Rivers finished 2013 with 32 touchdowns to 11 interceptions while throwing for 4,478 yards.
