Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has put up some lofty numbers over the past two seasons. And now he wants to be paid accordingly.
“Yeah, I deserve it,” Bryant told ESPNDallas.com. “I deserve it. I feel like I do. I put the work in, but I let that kind of stuff take care of itself. It is what it is. I let my agent talk about it and give me some feedback.”
Bryant is due $1.78 million in 2014 but his agent and the Cowboys have already begun talks on a new deal. Bryant can make an additional $250,000 this season in the final year of his rookie deal.
“I’m loyal to the squad,” Bryant said. “I’ve always been. Me and my agent are going to talk about [a hometown discount]. We’ll talk about it. You know, this is big. This is life-changing. Like I said, I’ve done everything asked of me, and we’ll see what happens.”
Brandon Marshall of the Chicago Bears became the seventh wide receiver to have a contract with an average annual value of $10 million when he reached a three-year deal worth $30 million last week. Fully expect Bryant to become the eighth member of that group.
Bryant caught 93 passes for 1,233 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.
