Lions could still fire Jim Caldwell

The head coaching job of the Lions may not belong to Jim Caldwell for long according to NFL Networks Ian Rapoport.

While Caldwell is said to have the support of ownership, it remains possible that new general manager Bob Quinn could make the decision to hire a coach he has ties to. Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia would be two names to watch should Quinn make a move. The decision is believed to be up to him to make.

Caldwell’s Lions got off to a poor start this season but in the second half the team played significantly better – albeit with an easier schedule. If Caldwell stays so too could offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and degensive coordinator  Teryl Austin – who is a candidate for several head coach openings across the league.
