The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to sign free agent running back Ryan Mathews.
Mathews, formerly of the San Diego Chargers, was said to be visiting the Eagles but according to FOX Sports’ Mike Garfolo the two sides are even further along.
Actually, more than a visit for RB Ryan Mathews with he Eagles. He's expected to sign with the team, source says.

The Eagles have also been linked to DeMarco Murray who led the NFL in rushing a year ago. However both the Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars seem to be offering Murray better contracts at this point.
During his time with the Chargers, Mathews has shown flashes of being a game breaker but has also struggled with durability issues. He has only played a full NFL season once.
Mathews played in six games last season rushing for 330 yards on 74 carries with three touchdowns. He would replace LeSean McCoy as an option in both the ground and passing game.
