Rob Chudzinski is expected to become the next offensive coordinator of the 49ers.’

Chudzinski’s contract as a special assistant with the Colts will expire on Monday which will allow him to seek other jobs across the NFL.

After a one year stint as the head coach of the Browns, Chudzinski was jettison amidst yet another front office shake up. He landed with the Colts.

The Colts attempted to block both the 49ers and Rams from interviewing Chudzinski prior to his contract running out.

“I’m not going to get into specifics, but it’s ultimately my job to make sure that good people stay in this building and don’t just walk right now,” Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said Friday in a press conference. “So we’ll address that, and do our best to keep good people here.”

With Lane Kiffin staying at the University of Alabama, the list of candidates has shrunk. Mike Shanahan and Geep Chryst are two names the 49ers have been linked to since the end of the regular season.
