The Chicago Bears have added John Fox as their new head coach. Now the Bears turn their search to assistant coaches.

Two of the names being tossed around for the defensive coordinator job are those of former Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

Allen previously served under Fox as the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos in 2011 before leaving to coach the Raiders.

Another option to take the job most recently held by Mel Tucker is Fangio.

Fangio is not going back to the 49ers after being passed over by the team in their head coaching search. Jim Tomsula got the 49ers coaching job and now Fangio is available. Fangio led the 49ers to top-five defenses the last four seasons but that was with a talented and deep roster that the Bears simply do not have right now.

The Bears were torched last season due to a suspect secondary. They finished 30th against the pass allowing 264.4 yards per game while finishing 17th against the run. Landing either of these two would be a major upgrade for the Bears.
