Buccaneers hire Dirk Koetter as offensive coordinator

Matt Ryan, Dirk Koetter
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hired Dirk Koetter s their new offensive coordinator.

Koetter was the play-caller for an explosive offensive unit in Atlanta the last three years but was left out on the street after the firing of Mike Smith. The Buccaneers offensive unit is not nearly as exciting as the Falcons – mainly because they lack a quarterback – but he should still be a huge step forward for a team that was left in the dust in 2014.

The Buccaneers do have a go to receiver in Mike Evans and a nice complementary piece in Vincent Jackson. With the No. 1 pick the team surely will address the quarterback situation.

Last year quarterbacks coach Marus Arroyo was thrust into offensive coordinator duty for the Buccaneers after Jeff Tedford was diagnosed with a heart condition.
