The Vikings had been hoping to get running back Adrian Peterson back on the field this week, instead they will have to settle for waiver claim Ben Tate.

Peterson’s NFL future is in question leaving the Vikings to move onto the recently waived Tate.

The Vikings do not seem ready to let Jerick McKinnon, who is dealing with a lower back injury, run with the ball leaving ample chances going forward for Tate to contribute to the team in short yardage situations.

Tate looked about as bad as possible while with the Browns including minus nine yards on two carries in Sunday;s loss to the Texans.

The Vikings will be on the hook for the remaining $352,941 on Tate’s contract plus an additional $46,875 for each time he is on the gameday roster.
