No charges to be filed in Ray McDonald case

Due to insufficient evidence, the Sant Clara County district attorney will not file charges against San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald.

Arrested on Aug. 31 on the suspicion of domestic violence during a party for his 30th birthday. Police found a victim who had “visible injuries” at the home that McDonald shares with his fiancee.

While the case unfolded the 49ers continued to allow McDonald to practice and play citing the teams desire for “due process” to play out.

One of the interesting side stories in this case was the involvement of Sgt. Sean Pritchard – a San Jose police officer who also worked 49ers team security. Pritchard is said to have arrived at McDonald’s house prior to officers who responded to a 911 call.

The victim in this case is said to have grabbed a gun in May during an argument but left when McDonald threatened to call the police.
