Texans turn to Ryan Mallett at QB

The Houston Texans are making a switch benching free agent signing Ryan Fitzpatrick. Instead the team will now give Ryan Mallett a chance to move the ball in an offense which has struggled to score points of late.

With the Texans on their bye it was the right time to make the move. Mallett will start in Week 11 against the Browns.

As a starter for nine games, Fitzpatrick produced middle of the pack stats while owning an 11:8 TD:Int ratio. Fitzpatrick is signed through next season at north of $3.5 million.

Mallet’s rookie contract ends at the end of this season. This is his chance to cash in and prove he can be an NFL starter.

Both Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins could become more productive with the switch.
