Lions cut Alex Henery, will work out kickers Tuesday

After Alex Henery was 0-for-3 on Sunday everyone knew the Detroit Lions would be making a change at kicker.

On Monday the team cut the kicker who had been with the team for two weeks. Henery was a combined 1-for-5 in his two games with the Lions after being cut by the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of the preseason.

The Lions will work out free agent kickers on Tuesday as they try to find a suitable kicker. One option will be Matt Prater who was let go by the Denver Broncos prior to Week 5. Prater’s four-game suspension is over and he was arguably the NFL’s best kicker last season.

Missed field goals were a big reason the Lions lost 17-14 to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The Lions are 3-2 on the season with games against Minnesota, New Orleans and Atlanta prior to their bye week.
