Cam Newton will start for the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 says a Associated Press report.
Newton sat on the sidelines supporting his teammates in a Week 1 win over Tampa Bay as Derek Anderson looked every bit of capable should Newton have needed more time away for his fractured ribs.
Newton will be playing at less than 100-percent against the Detroit Lions but those seeking fantasy stats will start him.
The Panthers first practice with Newton back will be on Wednesday. Anderson returns to the bench after his first start since the 2010 season. Anderson threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1.
