The NFL has fined Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning for taunting in the Denver Broncos third preseason game. Manning’s fine totals to $8,258.

Manning sought out Houston Texans safety D.J. Swearinger after tossing a 29-yard touchdown pass to Emmanuel Sanders. The Broncos quarterback got in the face of Swearinger who had delivered a helmet to helmet hit on Broncos receiver Wes Welker which resulted in a concussion.

“I accept the fine. It’s money well spent,” Manning told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

This is the first time Manning has been called for taunting in his NFL career.

“Fifteen yards with five seconds left in the half doesn’t hurt you that much,” Manning said following the game. “I think if you’re going to get one that’s a good time to get one.”

Welker recently began working out and is hopeful of playing in the Broncos season opener.
