Blaine Gabbert will remain second on the depth chart at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers as the team enters its third preseason game.
“Blaine is that guy right now,” Harbaugh said of Gabbert.
If head coach Jim Harbaugh’s comments about Blaine Gabbert did not seem too sencire one could simply look at his preseason numbers.
Gabbert has completed 11 of 25 passes for 60 yards with two interceptions for a 17.9 quarterback rating.
“I don’t judge it off just those,” Harbaugh told the Sacramento Bee. “I’ve been pretty clear what I thought we needed to get better as, as a unit. Team-oriented offense that has precision and plays wells together, all 11, and that’s what we’re going to be striving for.
“And we’ve had a good week,” he said. “Feel like we made progress. Hopefully, that progress shows up on Sunday.”
Josh Johnson and McLeod Bethel-Thompson will again follow Gabbert into Sunday’s game against San Diego.
