Montee Ball returned to practice Tuesday for the Denver Broncos.

Ball has been out since undergoing an appendectomy. The Broncos are having non-contact drills on Tuesday and are not expected to have Ball play in their third preseason game.

The expectation is that Ball will be ready once the regular season kicks off against Indianapolis.

Ball accumulated 558 yards on 119 rushes (4.7 avg) last season for four touchdowns. He added 20 catches for 145 yards. He should be the bellcow of the Broncos backfield but has Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson behind him.
