Jimmy Clausen outplays Jordan Palmer in Bears opener

Jimmy Clausen signed on with the Chicago Bears this offseason and is competing with Jordan Palmer for the right to be No. 2 on the depth chart at quarterback.

On Friday Clausen was 7-of-13 passes for 150 yards, two touchdowns, and a two-point conversion completion in the Bears’ preseason opener Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Clausen’s numbers were better than Palmer who finished the night 8-of-11 for 104 yards with one touchdown and an interception.

While Clausen may be listed as the third stringer for now, all signs point to the former Notre Dame standout landing as the backup for this season behind Jay Cutler.
