Mike Glennon to compete for starters role with Buccaneers

Mike Glennon will compete with Josh McCown for the starting quarterback spot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s report on NFL Insiders.

Glennon, 24, was inhertied from former general manager Mark Dominik and with new head coach Lovie Smith joining the Buccaneers it seemed almost certain that McCown would be the teams starter.

It is hard to read too much into Schefter’s report as the Buccaneers could simply be putting on the straight face after trying to trade him during draft weekend.

McCown appeared in 13 games last season throwing for 2608 yards and sporting a nice 19 to 9 TD/INT ratio. If the Buccaneers can land a nice return they will almost certainly deal him.
