Greg Hardy of the Carolina Panthers has been charged with domestic violence stemming from an incident with his girlfriend.
According to a police report, officers responded to a call at 4:18 am on Tuesday morning at a residence on North Tryon Street in Charlotte reports ESPN’s David Newton.. After arriving police spoke to a woman who said she had been assaulted and threatened by the Pro Bowl defensive end.
“We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate,” the Panthers said in a statement.
Hardy and the woman have been in a relationship since September 2013.
Last season Hardy led the Panthers with 15 sacks. The Panthers placed the franchise tag on him this offseason which guarantees him $13.1 million in 2014. The Panthers are still working on an extension with Hardy.
