New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said that Champ Bailey was signed to play cornerback.
Bailey, 35, will be the No. 2 corner on the Saints while Keenan Lewis will shadow the top wideouts on opposing teams.
While a free agent Bailey expressed a willingness to play safety but that is not why he was brought to the Saints.
Loomis said they intend to only play Champ Bailey at CB. "You always have a need for good players and that's a valuable position."

While Bailey may have declined, many are expecting him to have a bounce back season in New Orleans.
Bailey was given a two-year deal which could be worth as much as $7 million
