Ray Rice’s legal situation is still unfolding from his arrest in February but the Baltimore Ravens running back is doing his part to get in shape for next season.

Rice, 27, was playing at 225 pounds last season but has lost 15 pounds since the season came to a close.

Last season Rice had just 3.1 yards per carry and saw his yards per catch drop as well.

Rice’ trainer Kyle Jakobe told the Carroll County times that a hip injury that rice dealt with last season was a bigger problem than the running back let on.

“I don’t think a lot of people understand the magnitude of the injury that he was dealing with and how much pain he was actually in,” Jakobe said.

“He was definitely too heavy last year,” Jakobe said. “He definitely came back this year and said, ‘I feel heavy. I feel bloated. I don’t feel like I’m moving as well. I could feel it in my body. I felt like my body was working too hard to make the same movements it made in previous years.’
