Currently the Pittsburgh Steelers are almost $10 million over the salary cap and G.M. Kevin Colbert told a handful of local reporters that the Steelers will employ a sweep of  “terminations, restructurings, and extensions.”

One player the Steelers are expected to cut ties with offensive tackle Levi Brown.

Brown, 29, would save the Steelers $6.25 million against the cap in 2014 if he was released. It’s only a mater of time before this happens as Brown’s play has made him expendable.

The Steelers could could further lower their figure with cuts to safety Troy Polamalu and cornerback Ike Tayler. ($8.25 million and $7 million)

Another option that has already been talked about is an extension for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who is signed though 2015.
