Dolphins hire Dennis Hickey as general manager

MD: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Baltimore Ravens

After numerous names dropped themselves from the Miami Dolphins search for a new general manager, the team has settled on Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel Dennis Hickey.

Lake Dawson, Ray Farmer and Nick Caserio all turned down the Dolphins job in the last week.

Hickey has been in the Buccaneers front office for 18 years and has never been a candidate there to assume general manager duties.

It is unclear exactly what the power structure looks like in Miami as coach Joe Philbin was retained and executive Dawn Aponte also has high regard from owner Stephen Ross. Hickey could be general manager in name only.
