Jimmy Graham does not want franchise tag

Jimmy Graham is not happy about the possibility of having the franchise tag placed on him by the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints have not shy away from the thought of using the franchise tag on the star tight end.

“I’m not keen on the franchise tag,” Graham said after Pro Bowl practice Friday, according to NFL.com. “That would be really unfortunate, but that is really all I have to say about that one.”

“That’s real unfortunate,” he said. “If that happens, it doesn’t really matter what I prefer.”

The Saints see Graham as a tight end even as he played 67 percent of his snaps as a wide receiver in 2013 according to ESPN. It’s a significant thought because the tight end franchise tag was $6 million last season compared to $10.5 million for wide receivers.

Graham caught 86 passes for 1215 yards and a NFL high 16 touchdowns last season.
