When Kellen Winslow Jr. was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana outside a Target in East Hanover back in November, police were initially called to the scene because a woman thought she saw him masturbating inside his vehicle.
From the report:
As she exited her vehicle, she commented to the male regarding how cold it was. As she stood near the open driver side window of the Escalade, she observed the males [sic] erect penis. She stated that she believed he was masturbating. [The woman] provided a written statement regarding her account.
By the time police arrived, an officer found Winslow allegedly “slouched in his seat and moving around.” Winslow sprang to an upright position when the officer arrived. When the cop asked Winslow what he was doing, Winslow allegedly said he was looking for Boston Market but was lost.
Winslow was wearing dark sweatpants but did not have any exposed parts when police arrived. The police did notice two open containers of Vaseline inside the center console of his vehicle.
The police seized a few items from his car and then allowed him to leave. When lab tests came back postive for synthetic marijuana he was charged on Dec. 30. He has plead not guilty.
Winslow’s publicist, Denise White, issued a statement Friday on Twitter.
“Kellen pulled over to a parking lot to smoke what he thought at the time was a legal substance,” the statement read. “He changed his clothes in his vehicle as to not smell like smoke when he returned home. There was absolutely nothing inappropriate that took place and if there was police would have investigated further and charged Kellen which they did not. This will be the only time we will comment on this unfounded and ridiculous claim.”
Set to become a free agent, Winslow finished the 2013 season with 31 catches for 388 yards and two touchdowns.
