The New York Jets have re-signed quarter back Matt Simms.
Simms was unlikely to go anywhere as the Jets would have exclusively held his rights in March. Now he will earn $495,000 on a one-year deal.
With the release of Mark Sanchez coming soon, Simms is No. 2 on the Jets depth chart behind Geno Smith. Expect the Jets to try to land one more free agent or draft a developmental QB in the draft.
The son of Phil Simms, Matt Simms completed 16 of the 31 passes he attempted for 156 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
