Mike Shanahan is said to have had a strained relationship with quarterback Robert Griffin during his time in Washington. Reports circulated late this season that Redskins owner Dan Synder gave Griffin preferential treatment.
And, prehaps there is something to it?
Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins seems to think Griffin will play a significant part if selecting who the next Redskins head coach is.
Interesting comment from QB Kirk Cousins: "I'm sure Mr. Snyder and Robert and those people will have a lot of input as to who the hire is."

Cousins proved he was not ready to be a starter in the NFL, in fact he may never be more than a backup based on his the way he closed out the 2013 season.
However, if Griffin is in fact selecting his next head coach we can only wonder how much control the next head coach will really have.
