The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed running back Doug Martin on injured reserve.
Martin will miss the remainder of the 2013 season with a torn labrum suffered in a Week 7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
While the winless Buccaneers wanted to only play Martin if he was healthy the running back held out hope of returning to the field at some point.
Mike James will take over the full responsibility of running the ball for the Buccaneers going forward.
