Maybe there is a chance that Tony Gonzalez could finish his NFL career outside of Atlanta.

The 37-year-old tight end who has been chasing a Super Bowl ring told ESPN on Monday that while he will not demand a trade, he would be okay with on if the Falcons sent him to a contender.

“When Jimmy Johnson says that it would be respectful of [the Falcons], I see that,” Gonzalez told ESPN., “And like I said, if that’s something they wanted to do and they asked me, then, yeah, I would listen to them, of course. Yes, I would sit down with them.

Thus far neither head coach Mike Smith or general manager Thomas Dimitroff seem willing to part with Gonzalez.

Gonzalez is owed $3.7 million over the final nine weeks of the season. One potential landing spot is his former team in Kansas City. The NFL trade deadline is at 4 pm ET Tuesday.
