Falcons have no plans to trade Tony Gonzalez

The Atlanta Falcons will not trade tight end Tony Gonzalez.

With the Falcons sitting at 1-4 questions had begun to pop up about the status of Gonzalez going forward. Falcons head coach Mike Smith does not envision the Falcons getting rid of Gonzalez.

“That’s preposterous,” Smith said, via ESPN. “He’s an integral part of our offense — and will continue to be — to the success
we’re going to have.”

After spending the offseason debating whether he wanted to come back or not the 37-year-old Gonzalez agreed to return to the Falcons. Gonzalez has said that he intends to finish his career with the Falcons.

There figures to be a few more stories speculating a trade of Gonzalez prior to the NFL’s trade deadline on Oct. 29.

Thus far this season Gonzalez has 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns.
