The Green Bay Packers are expected to be without linebacker Clay Matthews for at least a month due to a fractured thumb.
Thus far the Packers have not released information on the status of Matthews. Head coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday that he was hopeful that Matthews would not miss the rest of the season.
“I’m hopeful it’s not season-ending,” McCarthy said Monday. “I think we’re all hopeful, but you have to get all the opinions and make sure you always do right by the player.”
Matthews was injured on Sunday while sacking Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford at the end of the third quarter.
