The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released running back Peyton Hillis on Thursday.
Listed as the Buccaneers No. 4 running back on the depth chart, Hillis had not appeared in either of the teams first two games.
Hillis, 27, has not been the same player since appearing on the cover of Madden 2012.
Hillis’ best season came in 2010 when he ran for 1177 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Cleveland Browns. His numbers took a downturn from there dropping to 587 and 3 touchdowns and finally 3089 with a touchdown last season with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Tight end Danny Noble was added from the practice squad to take Hillis’ roster spot.
